Tournament Info

The cost for the tournament this year will be by team instead of by player like last year.

All Teams :$100

To keep everything organized and under control this year, all registrations must be in 1 week prior to the event: the earlier the better. Teams from last year will have priority but we will be accepting up to 60 teams this year so there is plenty of opportunity for new teams. A waiting list will be created if necessary.

VERY IMPORTANT: To keep registration as simple as possible and until we have a better method, please bring the total amount (in cash or check) to my house, 146 Tack Factory Pond Dr. in Scituate, or contact me and I can pick it up or we can meet somewhere. If you are too far to bring it by just let me know and you can mail it to me. With the money, please list your team name, a phone number I can reach you at, and all the members of the team. Once again the earlier you confirm your registration with me, the better.

 General Information

·         The tournament will take place on the second Saturday in August

·         Teams should report to Central Field in Scituate. See the directions page for more help. Teams should be there by 8:45 Saturday morning. Games will begin at 9 o’clock.

·         Play will go on throughout the day Saturday.

·         inning games, if tied the 8th inning will start with the bases loaded.

·        There will be 4 teams per field/division. Each team will play the other 3 teams. The top two teams from each division will move on to the playoff round later in the day for single elimination play until only one team is left standing.

Rules

·         Teams will consist of 3-5 players (teams of 1 or 2 are allowed but it is a disadvantage), but there will be only 3 players in the field at any time. Any teams with more than 3 players can bat 4-5 players. The number of players batting each game must remain constant for the entire game. All fielders must bat. (Its all for fun so to keep it simple its recommended that everyone bats and fielders can be interchanged at will.)

·         No designated hitters or pinch hitters allowed.

·         Strike zone will be approximately 28” high and 20” wide

·         6 balls for a walk, 3 strikes for an out. 2 outs per inning. A foul tip with two strikes that hits the strike zone will be considered a strikeout.

o     A line will be drawn at designated spots to denote singles and doubles.

·         Triples will be off the wall in the air.

·         Runners advance the amount of bases the hitter does.

·         A grounder fielded cleanly before the singles line is an out.

·         Home runs are approximately 75-80 feet away. Pitchers mound is 40.5 feet away from the front of the plate.

·         Any ground ball that advances beyond the singles line is a single regardless of whether it is fielded cleanly. The fielder must field a grounder at or before the line, cleanly, to be an out. If the fielder bobbles the ball it is a single.

·         No gloves, taped bats, or scuffed balls. Bats and Balls will be provided.

·         If after the 3rd inning a team is leading by 10 or more runs, they will be declared the winner

Other things to know

·         No coolers please. Food and drinks will be sold.

·         Bring a chair. There will be down time between games so make sure you come prepared.

·         Tournament T-shirts will be sold.

·         ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CURE FOR COLE FOUNDATION. This tournament is non-profit and will hopefully be a lot of fun for everyone, all ages.
